FriendsGiving

I love myself a big holiday! But to be honest what home cook doesn’t?

When I heard about FriendsGiving I got so excited!

Wait you mean I can make Thanksgiving dinner for people? You mean I can have a turn too?

The Husband and I usually end up at a family members house that day so it’s exciting to think I could get a shot. I could plan the whole dinner, make the desserts, have the appetizers ready for the day… Start planning now… Prepping now…

And in the midst of planning what do I learn? I’m making my mother in laws Thanksgiving dinner too! She’s coming here! I’m hosting twice!

Ohhh now I see why I love cooking…

I L O V E cook prep! I L O V E party prep! I’m gonna be on a roll!!

Of course, sometimes it makes my stomach hurt… I get anxiety about the cleanliness of our home. I think about the fact that our carpet is pealing up in places, our bathroom floor is needing a strong bleaching and the amount of stains on my super old old carpet. I worry about Loretta having a panic attack at people coming in our home and if it smells okay in here… Yes, I worry about the smell. Having a small house and 2 cats… There can be a smell.

But then you get to think about the food, the table set up and all the fun things you can have ready to do or make. It’ll be worth it, is the mantra I keep playing over and over in my head.

So here’s my meal plan, here’s my ideas, here’s the recipes I’m going to use for Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving. I recently got the new Food Network Magazine in the mail and I am planning most of my meal from inside there! I’ll be posting recipes and how to do some of these throughout next year so be on the look out!

Friendsgiving:

  • Garlic- Citrus Roast Turkey
  • Basic Gravy
  • Honey- Glazed Turnips, Parsnips and Pearl Onions
  • Cranberry Balsamic Sauce
  • Green Onion, Thyme and Sage Rolls
  • Cream Cheese and Garlic Roasted Mashed Potatoes
  • Bacon Parmesan Stuffing
  • Pumpkin Pie with Pumpkin Seed Brittle
  • Pecan Brownie Pie

My “Plan” for Thanksgiving:

  • Roasted Paprika and Garlic Chicken
  • Basic Gravy
  • Fruit and Nut Cornbread Stuffing
  • Cranberry Balsamic Sauce
  • Roasted Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes
  • Acorn Squash with Pomegranate Glaze
  • Grandma’s Biscuits and Molasses Butter
  • Pecan Cinnamon Roll Pie

Y’all… wish my tiny kitchen and I luck in the upcoming weeks. We will need all that we can get!

Living. Loving. Prepping.

It sounds like you’ve got the menu handled while I’m still planning tablescapes😂😂 I had better get it together.
