April Garden Update 2021

Happy Earth 🌎 Day everyone!

My goodness the gardens have expanded this year!

I’m very very excited about it too.

From plants still around from last year, new trees and bushes, to rows of lettuces that make me drool. (And thennnn all of that got eaten…)

Since SoCal is kind of without all of the water right now I’ve been trying to be careful about what I’m buying and growing so I’m not just hiking up our water bill to compensate for saving money on groceries. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pomegranate blooms starting
Peaches coming in nicely! What’s the likelihood these will get full size on such little branches?

If you remember my Instagram post from the beginning of the month you’ll remember I made a big “Canyon Salad Bar” type of spread… welp. I didn’t think about the ground squirrels…

How it started 😫
Kale. Getting eaten…
Actually all of my lettuce mixtures got eaten ☹️
I found the entrance they made…
Celery is rocking it!
New raised planter boxes being added in soon.
Onions are finally starting to bloom!
Blueberry blossoms growing

So overall the beginning of my growing season has started nicely. Only some of the lettuces are gone (hopefully they don’t find the front garden) but there’s plenty more a happenin.

Next update I’ll include my tomatoes and peppers but at the moment they made it through the winter and are now looking still a bit pathetic. 🤪

Living. Loving. Gardening.
